New York, Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh and his Indian counterpart ,Subramaniam Jaishankar, held talks on bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the importance of strengthening them in various fields. The meeting took place within the framework of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Syrian foreign minister,Bassam Sabbagh, stressed the importance of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries that will take place in New Delhi next month. He also expressed appreciation for India's supportive positions towards Syria in regional and international forums, including within the framework of the BRICS group, and underlined the growing importance of this bloc in the process of transformation towards a multipolar world. For his part, Minister Jaishankar expressed his country's desire to develop relations with Syria in various fields and to continue supporting this nation in the difficult circumst ances it is facing.
