The Kurdistan Workers’ Party claims Ankara’s attack

The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (opposed to the Turkish government) claimed responsibility for the armed and suicide attack that occurred today, Sunday, in the capital, Ankara, near a security headquarters and before the opening of the new parliamentary session.

The American Kurdish Cedar News Agency, quoting the party, said that the attack that targeted Ankara was carried out by “two fighters” who attacked the Ministry building coinciding with the first session of the Turkish Parliament after the summer recess.

The American newspaper Barron’s reported, quoting the party, “An attack full of sacrifice was carried out today against the Turkish Ministry of Interior by members of a team from the Khaledin faction,” confirming that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party fully claimed responsibility for the attack, which it described as “terrorist.”

The attack, which was carried out at nine in the morning, resulted in the injury of a number of police officers after they clashed with the first suicide bomber, who blew himself up before they were able to “kill” the second attacker, according to a statement issued by the Turkish Interior Ministry.

It is noteworthy that other media outlets, including the American News 18, reported statements by Kurdish officials, whose names were not announced, denying the party’s involvement in the attack, describing it as “harmful to the party’s cause.”
