Baghdad - The Ministry of Planning discussed today Thursday, its preparations to present the national development plan for the next five years.
A statement by the Ministry of Planning stated that it held an expanded meeting, today, Thursday, chaired by Undersecretary Maher Hammad Johan, in the presence of Administrative Undersecretary Azhar Hussein Saleh, during which special preparations for the conference presenting the national development plan for the next five years, which will be held in Baghdad for the period from 26-28, were reviewed. This second session will take place, with the participation of ministries, entities not affiliated with a ministry, governorates, the private sector, civil society organizations, university professors, experts, and specialists, as well as international organizations, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme ( UNDP).
Johan stressed, according to the statement, that the conference represents great importance, because it will be the final gateway to approving the five-year development plan, calling for the participation of the concerned parties in a high manner, and clarifying what we want from the development plan, stressing that the Ministry of Planning wants this plan to be a realistic plan, consistent with the priorities of the government programme, and the sustainable development goals, in various sectors, and it is very useful to listen to all the opinions, visions and ideas that can enrich the plan and make it applicable, while developing appropriate alternatives to confront any unexpected challenges that the plan may face.”
The statement indicated that the meeting witnessed a presentation of the progress made in writing sectoral papers, according to the chapters of the plan, and the mechanism for communication between sectoral teams with international experts.
According to the statement, the head of the Central Bureau of Statistics, Dhia Awad Kadhim, the general directors of the departments of economic and financial policies, the regional and local development, the department of human development, and the team of experts, which includes a number of university professors, also participated in the meeting virtually, via the Zoom platform. "
