The National Intelligence Council discusses the reality of combating narcotics and psychotropic substances in Iraq

The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, chaired today, Sunday, the eighth session of the National Intelligence Council, in the presence of representatives of all intelligence agencies.

According to the Chancellery's statement, the Council discussed the topics on the agenda, and made the necessary decisions and recommendations in this regard.

The Council also discussed the reality of combating narcotics and psychotropic substances in Iraq, as it poses a challenge to societal security and Iraqi national security.

A detailed report was presented on the subject, which included (the facts - evaluation - current control measures - future plans to limit the impact of drugs on Iraqi society - the level of cooperation and coordination between the competent authorities locally, regionally and internationally).

Also, during the session, the importance of controlling borders, activating the intelligence effort, establishing rehabilitation centers and accelerating the reintegration of drug users into society, as well as focusing on awareness-raising activities, religious guidance and tribal conferences in coordination with the relevant authorities, in order to spread a culture of awareness among society of the dangers of drugs.
