The White House: Israel informed us that the military operation in Rafah is limited

Baghdad, Strategic Communications Coordinator at the National Security Council at the White House, John Kirby, announced that Israel has informed the United States that the military operation in the city of Rafah, southeast of the Gaza Strip, is limited. Kirby said: 'Our Israeli colleagues informed us that last night's operation was limited in nature and was intended to disrupt Hamas' ability to transfer weapons and money to the Gaza Strip.' He pointed out that the American position on the operation in Rafah has not changed, as such actions 'in a densely populated area,' as he put it, carry 'risks to the civilian population and threaten casualties. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said earlier today that "the operation in Rafah will not stop until Hamas is eliminated or a deal is reached to release the hostages from the Gaza Strip." Israeli tanks and forces entered the city of Rafah at dawn on Tuesday after Tel Aviv announced that the truce offer presented by Hamas did not meet its demands, confirming that it would go ahead with the attack that it had threatened for a long time. The Israeli army announced its full control over the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side, and the completion of its military operations in the area adjacent to the Egyptian border with the Gaza Strip.
