Ukraine announces that it has received support worth $1.25 billion from the US

Ukraine said on Thursday that it will receive support from the United States of America worth $1.25 billion within the framework of a World Bank project for it.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance explained, in a statement, that the funding will be to provide support to vulnerable groups of the population, to ensure the performance of government functions and to provide educational and medical services.

It stated that it collected subsidies and loans totaling approximately $19.5 billion, in addition to 1.44 billion euros ($1.55 billion) as a result of the project, as Ukraine relies on financial aid from its foreign partners to cover its budget deficit.

The public spending project to enhance the continuity of administrative capabilities in Ukraine is considered a pioneering financing tool for the World Bank in Kiev during the war that has been ongoing for about 17 months.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently discussed with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken the provision of more support to his country, and informed him of the latest developments in the internal situation and urgent needs.
