An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit the Sulawesi province in Indonesia on Monday. The epicenter of the earthquake occurred 7 kilometers from the Lulak at a depth of 259 kilometers, according to Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency. So far, there have been no reports of material damage or deaths due to the earthquake. Earthquakes regularly strike different parts of Indonesia as it is located on the Pacific belt known as the "Ring of Fire," where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
