A Campaign To Protect Archaeological Sites In Diyala

Baquba The first campaign to protect antiquities and prevent their trading in the province was launched in Diyala Governorate.

A government source told the correspondent of the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the Antiquities Protection Police Department in Diyala Police launched a campaign, the first of its kind in 17 years, to protect archaeological sites and prevent trafficking by gangs that trade in manuscripts and antiquities.

He added that the campaign includes educating citizens about preserving and protecting cultural heritage and archaeological sites, and reporting gangs stealing antiquities./End
