Doha: Al Faisal Global Foundation for Culture and Knowledge was officially inaugurated Monday in Doha, as a national institution with a global vision to maintain, document, and promote the Qatari, Arab, and global heritage.
According to Qatar News Agency, Founder and Chairman of Al Faisal Global for Culture and Knowledge, HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani, emphasized at a press conference that the foundation intends to contribute to the State of Qatar’s efforts in preserving heritage. He praised the state-led initiatives in spreading the culture of documentation and knowledge through various events.
HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani reiterated the foundation’s objectives to care for culture, history, and heritage, and explore everything related to the Qatari legacy to be documented and disseminated through publications or modern technologies. The goal is to protect these from extinction and pass them on to future generations.
The foundation is committed to collaborating with the Ministry of Culture to nurture the cultural scene in Qatar and document the Qatari heritage. HE Chairman of the Qatar Press Center, Saad bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi, highlighted the foundation’s role in fostering national identity and maintaining the Qatari legacy for future generations.
Al Rumaihi expressed confidence in the foundation’s contribution to cultural and heritage fields, pointing to the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum as an example of preserving and caring for heritage. The museum is noted for its valuable collections that resonate with both Qataris and Arabs.
Poet Dr. Hassan Al Naama described the inauguration as an initiative to promote culture and thought in Qatar, hoping the foundation will serve as a model for nation builders, positioning itself as a beacon of thought and culture for a bright future.
Director of the foundation, Ibrahim Badawi, highlighted the recent completion of seven publications focusing on heritage. This includes editions in Arabic and English, tackling the challenges and accomplishments of Qatar since its foundation. A French edition will be completed soon, and the first edition in Malayalam will launch at the New Delhi World Book Fair next month.
