Doha: Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev, seeded fifth in the tournament, has become the first to qualify for the semi-finals of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2025 in the 500-point category.

According to Qatar News Agency, Rublev, the 2020 champion, on Thursday triumphed over Australian Alex de Minaur, the tournament's second seed, in the first quarter-final match, winning 6-1, 3-6, 7-6.

With this victory, Rublev has secured his spot in the semi-finals of the 33rd edition of the championship, held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

The 27-year-old Russian, who has won 16 titles in his career, will face the winner of the upcoming match between his compatriot Daniil Medvedev, the fourth seed, and Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semi-finals tomorrow.
