Arab League Demands UNSC Action to Halt Settlers’ Crimes in West Bank

Cairo: The League of Arab States on Monday called for the need for the United Nations Security Council to act on stopping the attacks conducted by far-right settlers on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and putting an end to impunity. In a statement, Arab League stressed that the far-right settlers should pay for their constant crimes against the Palestinians and condemned the campaign unleashed by the armed settlers against towns and cities of the West Bank through carrying visible attacks under the protection of the Israeli authorities which condone these operations. The crimes that are committed on daily basis in the Gaza enclave should not be a cover up for the apparent escalation of the cycle of dangerous violent crimes unfolding in the West Bank, including the burning of homes and agricultural lands, as well as the devastation of property being committed by the armed settlers, the statement reads. The statement considered the imposition of sanctions by some countries on a number of settlers is i nsufficient step to deter the rising phenomenon and provide protection to civilians in the West Bank. The Palestinian Presidency so far warned of the continuation of the settlers' crimes against residents of the occupied West Bank, noting the events that transpired in the village of Al-Mughair, northeast of Ramallah where a Palestinian was martyred while dozens injured when gangsters of the armed settlers fired live rounds at them and set dozens of houses and private vehicles on fire.
