Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced on Thursday the completion of more than 1,800 kilometers of pedestrian and cycling paths between 2020 and 2025, as part of its comprehensive strategy to enhance sustainable mobility and provide a safer road environment.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Authority said the paths are part of highway, main road, and internal road projects aimed at separating pedestrian and cyclist traffic from vehicles, thereby improving traffic safety levels and enhancing traffic flow in cities and residential areas. The network includes shared pedestrian and cycling routes as well as dedicated cycling lanes to ensure a safe and comfortable mobility experience for users, while also providing infrastructure that encourages active and healthy modes of transport.
Ashghal stated that these achievements reflect its commitment to developing a modern and integrated road network that supports sustainable development goals and enhances the quality of life for citizens and residents.
