Britain Responds Positively to US-Brokered Ceasefire in Lebanon

London: British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper welcomed Friday the announcement by US President Donald Trump of a ceasefire in Lebanon. In a statement, Cooper said the ceasefire offers much-needed hope for civilians, allowing people to return to their homes and enabling those who have suffered the most in this war to begin rebuilding their lives. She called for this to be the moment that paves the way for lasting peace.

According to Qatar News Agency, Cooper emphasized the importance of reaching a long-term political settlement, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1701, as the only way to restore security and stability. The ceasefire is seen as a critical step towards achieving this goal.

US President Donald Trump announced Thursday evening that an agreement had been reached on a 10-day ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. The announcement has been met with international approval, with hopes that it will lead to a more enduring resolution.
