Earthquake of 5.1 Magnitude Strikes Papua New Guinea

Beirut: Papua New Guinea An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea on Thursday.

According to Qatar News Agency, the US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of 142.3 km. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

Papua New Guinea lies within the Ring of Fire, a seismically and volcanic active zone along the Pacific Ocean. This region contains 90% of the world's active volcanoes.
