Doha: Canadian tennis player Felix Auger-Aliassime secured his spot in the semi-finals of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open by defeating world number six Daniil Medvedev of Russia on Thursday.
According to Qatar News Agency, Auger-Aliassime, 24, and currently ranked 23rd globally, achieved victory over the 29-year-old Russian, who was seeded fourth in the tournament and had won the title in 2023, with a score of 6-3 before Medvedev retired due to injury.
In the semi-finals tomorrow, the Canadian will face another Russian, Andrey Rublev, who earlier eliminated second-seeded Australian Alex de Minaur with scores of 6-1, 3-6, 7-6.
