DOHA: Qatar's hosting of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup underscores the nation's capability in organizing major sports events, according to an official from the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC). The Local and Regional Media Manager, Mohammed Rashid Al Khanji, highlighted the country's commitment to continuing its legacy of hosting significant sporting events following the successful FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. According to Qatar News Agency, Al Khanji emphasized that the tournament's new format aims to maintain the momentum of thrilling sports events in Qatar. Part of the promotional efforts included fan engagement activities, where attendees had the opportunity to express their enthusiasm and capture memorable moments with the tournament trophies. Al Khanji noted the substantial fan presence, particularly among supporters of Al Ahly of Egypt, a club with a considerable following in the Gulf region. The Egyptian team is set to compete against CF Pachuca of Mexico for the FIFA Challenger Cup at t he 974 Stadium, which seats 44,089 spectators, on Saturday. The victor of this match will earn the opportunity to face Real Madrid in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final, scheduled for December 18 at the Lusail Stadium, which has a capacity of 89,000.
