Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received a phone call from HE Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi on Tuesday, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation and addressing pressing global issues. Discussions between the two leaders were centered around strengthening ties and exploring ways to further develop their collaborative efforts.

According to Qatar News Agency, the conversation also delved into recent regional and international developments, particularly the ongoing escalation impacting energy markets and supply chains. Both leaders emphasized the significance of maintaining stable energy flows to ensure economic security.

During the call, the Japanese Prime Minister condemned Iranian attacks on Qatar and lauded the State's adept crisis management. He praised Qatar's efforts in ensuring the safety of Japanese nationals and its role in fostering peace and stability in the region.

In response, HH the Amir expressed gratitude towards Japan, reiterating Qatar's commitment to the welfare of all residents. He highlighted the enduring strategic partnership between Qatar and Japan, emphasizing mutual respect and cooperation.

The dialogue also underscored support for the mediation initiatives led by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Both leaders agreed on the necessity of reaching a comprehensive agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital channel for enhancing energy security, stabilizing markets, and bolstering regional and global economic stability.
