Inter-Clubs International Sailing Regatta Kicks Off in Doha

Doha: The Inter-Clubs International Sailing Regatta, organized by the Doha Marine Sports Club, kicked off Wednesday at Katara Beach and will continue until Saturday. The event features the participation of 85 competitors from 10 countries.

According to Qatar News Agency, the championship activities began with the registration of participants, followed by an introductory meeting for all participants. The competitions are set to start on Thursday, at 11 a.m. and will last for four hours. On Friday, the race will begin at 1 p.m., while the final race on Saturday will start at 11 a.m., followed by the award ceremony at 4:30 p.m.

Iran leads the list of ten participating countries with 29 athletes, followed by Turkiye with 22 athletes, and Kazakhstan with 12 athletes. Bahrain and Malaysia each have seven participants, while Qatar has five. The UAE is represented by four athletes, and Italy, France, and Pakistan each have two athletes. Spain and Indonesia each have one participant.

The Qatari team includes Faris Al Bakri, Mohsen Al Shershni, and Abdullah Al Shershni in the ILCA7 category, Khaled Nasser Al Suwaidi in the 470 category, and Hassan Al Bakr in the Hobie Cat-16 category.
