Lusail Stadium, one of the eight stadiums for the FIFA World Cup FIFA Qatar 2022™, has received two prestigious certificates in the sustainability of design and construction works, from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). This is in recognition of the unique World Cup commitment to sustainability standards during the design and construction stages of the architectural edifice, which will witness the World Cup final match next December.
After completing verifications, the Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD) granted Lusail Stadium a five-star (GSAS) certificate in design and construction, and a construction management certificate of excellence category (A). Lusail Stadium becomes the fourth World Cup stadium to obtain this prestigious certificate from the five-star category, after Education City Stadium, Al Bayt Stadium and Al Thumama Stadium.
A number of senior officials of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) attended the ceremony of handing over the two certificates at the stadium yesterday, including Eng. Ghanim Al Kuwari, Deputy Director General for Technical Services, Eng. Bodour Al Meer, Sustainability Executive Director and Mr. Jassim Al Jaidah, Sustainability Communications Manager.
