Pilot Killed in Firefighting Helicopter Crash While Fighting Wildfires in South Korea

Uiseong: A pilot was killed on Wednesday when a firefighting helicopter crashed while helping extinguish a wildfire in the town of Uiseong, southeastern South Korea.

According to Qatar News Agency, the helicopter crashed into a mountain in Uiseong, which is located 180 kilometers southeast of Seoul. The report, citing the Korea Forest Service, mentioned that the cause of the accident is still under investigation, and no further details have been provided about the circumstances of the crash or any additional damage.

Authorities in South Korea had previously reported that 18 people have been killed, 19 injured, and 23,000 evacuated due to wildfires causing significant damage in the southeastern region of the country. Thousands of firefighters have been deployed and are working tirelessly to contain the fires that have been raging for days.
