Doha: In a significant humanitarian initiative, the State of Qatar has announced the commencement of supplying the Gaza Strip with an additional 15 million liters of fuel. This move brings the total Qatari fuel support to 30 million liters, primarily aimed at operating hospitals and shelters for displaced individuals in Gaza.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan newspaper emphasized that this sustained aid underscores Qatar’s unwavering commitment to alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people. For years, Qatari humanitarian organizations have collaborated with UN agencies and other bodies to provide aid, aiming to enhance living conditions in Gaza and bolster the resilience of its people against challenging circumstances. The editorial also highlighted Qatar’s ongoing efforts to facilitate a permanent ceasefire and prisoner exchanges, striving for a resolution that ensures a complete end to hostilities.
Al-Raya newspaper echoed this sentiment, reaffirming Qatar’s steadfast support for Gaza. The editorial highlighted Qatar’s swift humanitarian response following the cessation of aggression, providing relief, medical, and therapeutic aid through various Qatari institutions. In alignment with the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Qatar calls for regional and international collaboration to ensure continuous aid flow to Gaza, advocating for the resilience of the Palestinian people and rejecting any displacement attempts.
The Peninsula, an English-language newspaper, warned of the fragile nature of the current ceasefire, citing provocative statements by Israeli officials and concerns over US President Donald Trump’s remarks about relocating the Gaza population. The newspaper’s editorial, titled “Delicate Situation in Gaza,” condemned Israeli Prime Minister’s statements about establishing a Palestinian state in Saudi Arabia and reiterated Qatar’s strong opposition to forced displacement, which could jeopardize peace prospects and reignite regional tensions. The editorial stressed the need for a sustained ceasefire and a commitment from all sides to work towards lasting peace, emphasizing the importance of Palestinian sovereignty for a just resolution.
