HE Permanent Representative of State of Qatar to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva Dr. Hind bint Abdulrahman Al Muftah participated in the Global Ethics Forum 2024, held in Geneva on Wednesday. Addressing a panel session themed "Global Peace in a polarized world: How to revive ethics in international relations?", Her Excellency said that ethics are central to international relations, and that peace does not only mean the absence of war, but rather the absence of inequality and injustice. Her Excellency added that today's polarized and politicized world had exhibited double standards regarding human rights, ecology, climate change among other issues, highlighting the current situation and daily suffering in the Gaza Strip over the killing of innocent children, women, journalists, patients and doctors amid an inactive international community. The aspects of inequality and injustice in the current global order, mostly due to politicization, double standards and impunity , have become a subject of increasing controversy across the world, Her Excellency added, noting that it is not yet clear what moral direction the global policies may take. She stressed that countries shoulder the responsibility of preserving human rights beyond their borders and working to achieve justice for their peoples and the peoples of other countries within the framework of international cooperation.
