Qatar Reaffirms Commitment to Syrian Stability Amid Ongoing Conflicts

Doha: In a recent editorial published by Al-Raya, a prominent Qatari newspaper, it was emphasized that Qatar is unwavering in its support for the stability of Syria, amidst ongoing conflicts instigated by criminal gangs attempting to revert the nation to its former state under a criminal regime.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorial, titled “Qatar Support for the Stability of Sisterly Syria,” strongly criticized these gangs for their role in the suffering of the Syrian people over the decades. It highlighted the heavy toll on Syrians, who have endured immense hardships, including the loss of hundreds of thousands of lives, widespread disappearance, and mass displacement across the globe in their quest for freedom.

The editorial condemned the terrorist attacks that occurred last Thursday, which were executed by criminal elements targeting Syrian security forces. These acts were labeled as treacherous and cowardly crimes that should not be left unpunished. Qatar has expressed its full support for the Syrian government’s efforts to restore security and stability, and prevent any forces that might incite sedition.

Al-Raya reiterated Qatar’s steadfast support for Syria’s sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as the fulfillment of the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom, development, and prosperity. It emphasized Qatar’s faith in the Syrian government’s capability to counteract and contain external attempts to destabilize Syria’s peace and institutions, which could lead the country towards chaos and conflict.

The editorial concluded by asserting that Syria’s return to security and stability is of paramount interest to Qatar, due to Syria’s significant role in regional peace and its influential position in Arab decision-making. Qatar is committed to supporting Syria on political, diplomatic, humanitarian, and technical fronts, ensuring the security and stability of Syria remains a priority. Additionally, the international community is urged to support Damascus and engage with Syria’s evolving reality on equal terms, without imposing external conditions.
