Qatar’s Diplomatic Efforts Highlighted in GCC Ministerial Council Participation

Doha: Qatari newspapers, in their editorials today, focused on the participation of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, in the 163rd session of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). They also highlighted his participation in joint ministerial meetings between GCC foreign ministers and their counterparts from Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and Morocco.

According to Qatar News Agency, the editorials emphasized Qatar’s strong condemnation of crimes committed by lawless groups and their attacks on security forces in Syria. Al-Sharq newspaper mentioned that Qatar’s participation in the GCC Ministerial Council meeting reflects its commitment to coordination and consultation with its Gulf counterparts. The newspaper also noted the strength and unity of the GCC, emphasizing the cohesion among its member states.

Al-Sharq further reported that the final communique of the GCC Ministerial Council was comprehensive and reflective of a unified Gulf vision on regional and international developments. It particularly highlighted efforts led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The statement also stressed the need to adhere to the agreement, end Israeli aggression, ensure full withdrawal from Gaza and all Palestinian territories, and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The communique also reiterated support for Lebanon and emphasized the importance of Sudan’s sovereignty, security, and stability. It called for de-escalation, dialogue, unity, and a return to the political process leading to civilian rule and alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people. Al-Sharq concluded that the outcomes of these meetings, held in Mecca last Thursday, will enhance the regional and international standing of GCC countries and represent a step toward greater coordination and integration within the Gulf.

Meanwhile, Al-Watan newspaper highlighted the widespread international recognition of Qatar’s diplomatic efforts. It stressed that these initiatives reflect the global desire for a lasting ceasefire and a just and comprehensive resolution to the conflict. The newspaper noted that this solution must be based on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Al-Watan reaffirmed that Qatar’s diplomatic actions and positions have consistently earned international appreciation and respect. These engagements have focused on strengthening cooperation across various fields and addressing regional developments, particularly in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
