New York: The major stock indices on the US Wall Street Stock Exchange closed higher at the end of the trading session.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the session up 222.64 points, or 0.5 percent, to reach 42,801.72 points. The broader Standard and Poor’s 500 Index also rose 31.68 points, or 0.6 percent, to reach 5,770.20 points.

In turn, the Nasdaq Composite Index of technology stocks added 126.97 points, or 0.7 percent, to reach 18,196.22 points.
