Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi called for intensifying international and regional efforts to provide urgent humanitarian aid to Lebanon to alleviate the suffering of civilians and protect them from the repercussions of the war, hoping that Lebanon would overcome these challenges and achieve security and stability. He stressed, during his meeting today with Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon Dr. Saadeh Al Shami, on the sidelines of the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) Washington, the support of the GCC for the Lebanese people in the circumstances they are currently going through, and expressed the solidarity of the GCC member states with Lebanon. The meeting also discussed Gulf-Lebanese relations in a number of areas, praising the many humanitarian efforts that the GCC countries have provided and continue to provide to Lebanon to confront these circumstances.
