DOHA: The 10th Qatar-Iran Joint Economic Commission convened in Doha, co-chaired by Qatar's Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al-Thani, and Iran's Minister of Energy, Dr. Abbas Aliabadi. The meeting aimed to bolster cooperation between the two nations across various sectors, including trade, industry, and agriculture. According to Qatar News Agency, the commission, attended by representatives from ministries, government agencies, and investors from both countries, focused on evaluating the progress of recommendations made by the joint technical working team. The discussions spanned multiple areas such as customs, handicrafts, health, scientific research, transportation, maritime shipping, communications, information technology, free zones, culture, sports, and labor. A significant part of the agenda was dedicated to strategies for increasing trade volumes and strengthening investment and industrial cooperation. In his address, Minister Al-Thani emphasized the robust bilat eral relations between Qatar and Iran, underscoring the importance of the commission meetings in enhancing cooperation. He highlighted the positive impact of mutual official visits and the shared ambitions of both leaderships to expand cooperation. Minister Al-Thani expressed his hope that the Qatar-Iran Business Council would play a pivotal role in enhancing trade, industrial, and investment collaboration, facilitating the exchange of goods and services, and strengthening the partnership between the business sectors of both countries. He also outlined the promising sectors identified by Qatar's Third National Development Strategy, such as renewable energy, logistics, small and medium enterprises, food and agriculture, and strategic projects related to food security. The Minister invited Iranian investors and companies to explore opportunities in the Qatari market, emphasizing the importance of diversifying and strengthening economic and investment partnerships to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
