Qatar Cabinet Approves New Service Fees and International Agreements

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet’s regular meeting held on Wednesday. Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi announced that the Cabinet extended its highest greetings to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on the imminent advent of the blessed Eid Al Fitr, wishing prosperity and growth for Qatar under his leadership.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet approved a draft decision by the Minister of Justice regarding fees for certain services offered by the Ministry of Justice. The decision includes streamlining fees, reducing charges, and exempting first-time business transactions from documentation fees to facilitate business setup in Qatar. It also offers fee reductions for people with disabilities and those over sixty.

The Cabinet also gave the green light to a draft decision by the Minister of Municipality on fees for services by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), aiming to align with updated services and exempt some government entities and contractors from fees. Measures were taken to ratify agreements with Sierra Leone on customs law enforcement and with the Netherlands on peaceful dispute resolution.

Additionally, a draft memorandum for cooperation in ports with Ecuador was approved, and the Cabinet reviewed proposed amendments to the Workers’ Support and Insurance Fund law. The Cabinet also reviewed reports on national civil aviation security and the Qatar-India Business Forum, taking appropriate decisions for each.
