In a pre-season friendly at the Estepona Sports Center in Spain, Al-Wakra played to a 2-2 draw with UAE's Al-Jazira. This match is part of Al-Wakra's intensive preparatory camp for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Al-Wakra's goals came courtesy of striker Ricardo Gomez, who netted in the 36th minute, and Mohammed Khaled, who scored in the 57th minute. Despite a strong performance, the match ended in a stalemate, highlighting both teams' readiness for the forthcoming season. Al-Wakra will continue their training camp in Spain, where they have scheduled two more friendly matches. They will face Spanish teams Fer-Castellon and Antequera on July 26 and July 30, respectively. In a bid to strengthen their squad, Al-Wakra has been active in the transfer market this summer. They have brought in Spanish coach Angel Miguel, alongside key signings such as striker Ricardo Gomez from Al-Shamal Club, Danish defender Alexander Schultz from Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds, and Tunisian midfielder Issa Al-Aidouni from Germany's U nion Berlin. Al-Wakra finished fourth in the Qatari league last season and celebrated a significant triumph by winning the Qatar Cup, defeating Al Rayyan 1-0 in a thrilling final. Looking ahead, the team is gearing up for their participation in the AFC Champions League 2, the newly renamed second-tier Asian club competition. The draw for this prestigious tournament is set to take place on August 16. Source: Qatar News Agency
